Our philosophy is simple: Eat real, unprocessed food, mostly plants and of the best seasonal quality. We expertly craft all of our food by hand from high quality raw ingredients sourcing organic where possible. All of our cakes and pastries are also made by hand from butter and free range eggs.

Eugene hits the Sydney markets every week at 4am - his biggest source of inspiration for the weekly menu being the availability of seasonal produce and conversations with the providores. At Eugene's we are many things: your local cafe serving amazing espresso coffee and a la carte menu, your local food store suppling take home dinners & ever-changing salads to Bronte's families, and a space to be inspired by food - always loving what you eat.

Our STORY

Eugene Giesinger is the head chef and owner of one of Bronte’s most-loved cafes, Eugene’s. Along with his designer partner Natalie Byfield, the pair transformed the former storefront into a fully restored Art Deco haven in mid-2012.

Eugene is one of those of an increasingly rare breed of chef classically trained in the old-school of master chef and apprentice. 

Having worked in the restaurant industry as a professional chef for over 20 years, most notably at Michelin starred 'Pied A Terre' in London. Giesinger, a native Sydney sider opened the cafe wanting an outlet where his passion for locally sourced Australian produce and high quality food at a reasonable price could flourish.

Take HOME MEALS

We have a fantastic selection of freshly prepared small batch take home meals and salads ready for purchase from the cafe. Perfect for last minute weekday dinners we are now open until 6pm Monday to Friday so you can pop in and grab something on the way home from work or school.

Eugene's take home staples, including local favourites Pork and Veal Meatballs or our infamous Fish Pie, are in constant supply. We also like to mix it up depending on the season with a changing menu.
